A look at marine cloud bank from Leo Carrillo, Aug 17, 2022

Marine clouds are the nemesis for those on the West Coast looking for winds. A dense bank of marine clouds can move in quickly, kill winds and leave a wind/kite surfer stranded. We had a subscriber ask whether we could provide more detailed forecasts of where and when these cloud banks would form. Unfortunately, these clouds can come and go very quickly and at times develop in very small areas so it is impossible to give such a detailed forecast but here is a video with some tools so you understand better how these clouds form and how they can affect the winds. This will also give you some tools so you know where to go so you can check your particular beach.
